Challenge

Create a platform that reaches out to the youth (ages 13 - 24) that had a setback because of the pandemic to inspire, motivate and support them to get back on their feet with the help of talented athletes.

Solution

The pandemic has taken a toll on the youth’s livelihood, their education, mental and physical health. Project Comeback reached out to inspiring public figures to connect with the youth via various events. The youth can browse activities that are hosted by public figures and register to those activities. Project Comeback aspires to be a platform that showcases public figures for all, whatever their background or identity might be.

The purpose of this website is to inform and have users sign up for activities via a form. They can either do this via the Topsporters or Agenda page. Next to the website Project Comeback is reaching out via social media to inform and bring users to the website and have them apply to the activities.

My role & process

A new platform and brand from the ground up. Having colleagues that took care of the project management, branding, visuals and video editing I was able to focus on the wireframes, interface design and developing the website.

The audience is the youth (ages 13 to 24 of all ethnicities), their interests and what appeals to them is an ever-changing landscape. One thing that stays true about them is that they too want to be taken seriously and that’s what this website wants to show within an energetic package.

It was a project with a short time span in which I had to design the wireframes and establish the user journeys on how users were to be informed and engaged on their way to the forms within the website. This ended up with a familiar format as a web design which all lead towards the forms. The forms are embedded and made with Typeform so that they can be used in multiple places for example Instagram Stories as well. It also makes it possible for the client to easily make different forms within an efficient working platform that complies with the GDPR ruling.

With all that in place, I designed the interface working closely with the other designers who did the branding and visuals to ensure a consistent visual language. Finally, I developed the website by using Webflow, gave a workshop on how to use the CMS for the client and handed it over.

After the launch, I joined the other designers with the visual design and editing of the videos.

The wireframes focussed on providing textual information first and visuals second. During the design phase, it became clear that the visuals needed to be the primary elements that communicated with the audience. With that, the ratio of visuals to text changed. It now matches a similar energy en presentation as the social channels that reach out to the audience.
